Roundworms are a extremely common parasite that are found in dogs. Roundworms are parasitic invaders that flourish in the intestine, and digestive track of canines.

Almost every single dog will have roundworms at at least some point in their lifetime, it most commonly will occur when the dog is young as a puppy.

There are two main species of roundworms that are found in dogs, one of which can be easily transmitted to humans causing posing a significant threat to human health. 

Roundworms are transmitted through eggs which most often are in the feces of dogs, and are naked to the human eye. Dogs become infected when the inspect other dogs feces who are infected by licking, eating or even sniffing the infected feces. Roundworms can also be spread through other animals, and insects such as small rodents, birds, or even cockroaches. 

It is also common for dogs to be infected with roundworms from their mother. This is usually caused by the mother being infected with larvae who are then passed by either nursing, or just before birth. Fortunately, there are treatments for roundworms available for dogs, both prescribed and natural.
